Accommodations

The MKII has several distinguishing characteristics to the interior layout which make it especially comfortable underway and at anchor alike. Forward to port is a “pullman” style private berth that is much preferable to a v-berth, as it is located farther aft for less motion underway and is slightly larger than a typical full-size bed aboard. Aft to starboard is a second double berth. In the saloon, the settees on either side of the dinette table serve as additional sea-berths offering a total of six berths aboard. Sizable closet with hangers, eight drawers under the pullman berth, and two enclosed shelves in the aft cabin provide plenty of storage space.

The head / shower is at the bow of the boat and was completely rebuilt with all new plumbing, tiling, lighting, and varnish in 2019. She has a saltwater / freshwater electric flush toilet, hot water (heated from the engine’s heat exchanger or shore power), and holds 170 gallons of freshwater. All freshwater is stored in stainless steel tanks and the galley is equipped with a specialty purifier for drinking water.

Saloon features a generous table with a lip to prevent spills at sea. It’s perfect for sharing a delicious meal at anchor, or for playing cards and sharing stories at night. On a chilly Maine morning, convert the cabin into a cozy hearth with the small but mighty fireplace! The diesel burning heater provides comfortable, dry heat and delightful ambiance.

Interior and furnishings are of finished solid burmese teak. Surfaces and headliners are off-white, with 6’4” headroom throughout. Cabinsole is teak and holly. Stately bronze portholes and brass light fixtures give the space a classic nautical feel.

Galley

The galley is located to port at the foot of the companionway. The gimbaled three burner GN Espace stove and oven was installed in 2017 alongside a Fireboy-Xintex propane system with fault detection. A double basin stainless steel sink has hot and cold pressure water faucets along with manual foot-pumped fresh and salt water faucets. Other galley features include an icebox with refrigeration, storage, countertops, spice rack, boat-friendly dinnerware, and custom built teak organizers for knives and flatware. Complete with pots, pans, mixing bowls, and handy utensils, it’s a well equipped galley. The onboard propane system also serves a small Dickinson Sea-B-Que Grill on the aft railing!

Cockpit

  • The cockpit is a classic bluewater cockpit, smaller in size than modern boats to prevent swamping, located aft with lower freeboard to keep sailors closer to the axes of rotation and prevent seasickness.
  • Nefer Nubi’s cockpit has been entirely restored over the past 5 years to include new cabintop Lewmar self-tailing winches, new teak decking, and custom teak propane tank locker to hide the propane tanks which are safely vented overboard.
  • Custom integrated stainless steel davits make it easy to lift and launch the tender.
  • She has a beautifully designed Iverson dodger with recently replaced polycarbonate glass, a small fixed bimini top over the helm, and an optional canvas that spans the two for sun or rain cover at anchor.
  • There are 4 fishing rod holders on the aft rail, and a stanchion-mounted folding ladder for swimming.
  • One main lazarette locker houses deck gear, fenders, spare lines, life jackets, etc.
  • The steering binnacle is bronze with a lit compass, cup holders, and off the binnacle to starboard is the main chartplotter which displays all instrument data, radar, sonar, etc. To port is the dedicated autopilot control interface.
  • The flybridge houses two MFD displays for any data preferable to the captain such as depth or windspeed information.  Additionally all engine data is integrated into the NMEA2k backbone and can be monitored from any display onboard.
  • Saltwater washdown pump

Electrical

The electrical and electronics have also been entirely updated and modernized for world cruising. 560 watts of high-efficiency solar panels, a 350 watt wind turbine, a high-output alternator, and a 600 amp-hour AGM battery bank generate and store enough power in typical cruising conditions to eliminate reliance on shore-power. A rich graphic display makes it easy to monitor. A 3kw sine-wave inverter powers cabin AC outlets.

Electronics

Nefer Nubi has all 2019 Raymarine electronics which includes the latest autoranging Doppler radar solution. This highlights moving objects from stationary objects making navigation in low visibility conditions (night or fog) much safer. Modern instrument displays, chartplotters, and even 3d RealVision sonar make navigation and operation of the vessel a rich and informed experience. Two autopilots are fitted for redundancy, and the Raymarine primary has a dedicated interface and takes only one-touch to engage and disengage. For radio communications, the boat has a primary ICOM masthead VHF with DSC and distress, ICOM AIS which integrates into the chartplotters, dedicated GPS in addition to several internal GPS modules for redundancy, and an ICOM SSB for the ham radio enthusiast. The boat also has two ICOM handheld VHF radios for taking in the tender or between groups. The boat has a Fusion bluetooth enabled stereo with indoor and outdoor zones.

Mechanical

Nefer Nubi has a Yanmar 3QM30 30hp diesel engine which was entirely rebuilt in 2019. This pushes her at a cruising speed of 6.5 knots at 2k RPM with a 3-blade fixed prop. With 120 gallons of fuel capacity and burning less than a gallon an hour, her range is over 1000 miles under power. The engine compartment was rebuilt in 2019 which included two layers of soundproofing.

Hull & Deck

The MKII has a solid fiberglass deck and hull, with teak inlays. Nefer Nubi has been under the meticulous care of a boatbuilder for the past 5 years, and you will see touches of this throughout the exterior and interior woodwork. The coachroof teak decking and cockpit decking has been replaced with new teak slowly over the last 4 years.  The caprails, bulwarks, hatches, doghouse, bowsprit, capstan, and boomkin are all finished bright and varnished annually. 6 dorades ventilate the boat and new Lewmar hatches were added over the pullman berth for light and ventilation.

Sails & Rigging

The owner of Nefer Nubi is closely connected with the North Sails research and development team and had a whole new suit of sails made for her in 2019 which makes this boat a real joy to sail... and probably the fastest Hans Christian in the world 😊

  • North Sails Furling Genoa Staysail w/ vertical battens, NPC Cross-Cut NorDac
